Senior Java Full Stack Developer

About the role

Design and develop secure, scalable, and high-performance applications using Java and Spring Boot. Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and UX teams to deliver reliable, end-to-end solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead, design, and develop scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain microservices-based systems that emphasize reliability, resilience, and observability.
• Design and optimize Oracle database schemas, SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and event-driven solutions using Kafka.
• Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and UX teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance, stability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation initiatives to streamline delivery and deployment.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in backend or full-stack Java development.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java, with strong experience using Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem.
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, Kafka, and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Oracle databases, including SQL, PL/SQL, schema design, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and application-development best practices.
• Experience using Git and CI/CD tools to support software development and deployment.
• Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Schedule

Hybrid position requiring three days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Plano, Texas, and two days remotely.

Pay

The annual salary for this position is $61,000 to $112,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program.
