Senior Java/AWS Developer/Finance/Los Angeles LOCAL

Our client, a leading global investment management firm that manages over $2 trillion in assets, is looking to hire a Java Back-End Developer to join their Short Term Desk Technology team on a full time basis. This role focuses on building the next generation of trading and cash management systems using modern Java, cloud-native microservices, and AWS. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and front office trading, using agentic engineering patterns and applied AI tooling (GitHub Copilot, MCP servers, LLMs) to accelerate development and streamline automation. You'll modernize legacy platforms, contribute to a broader AWS cloud migration, and collaborate directly with portfolio managers, traders, and operations teams all while owning the full software lifecycle. Required Skills & Experience 3-5 years of strong experience with Java and back-end development Familiarity with microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures Some exposure to AWS or cloud-native engineering concepts (containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code) Strong communication skills and a proactive, fast-moving mindset Desired Skills & Experience Interest or experience using AI tools to boost productivity (code generation, test creation, documentation) Exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, EKS, RDS, S3, or MSK Experience with TDD and strong CI/CD practices Desire to partner closely with front office and business stakeholders What You Will Be Doing Design, build, and maintain scalable Java microservices using modern frameworks, TDD, and strong CI/CD practices Build containerized, cloud-native services and support the migration of legacy workloads to AWS (Lambda, EKS, RDS, S3, MSK) Apply AI tooling (GitHub Copilot, MCP servers, LLMs) to accelerate development and testing, and to streamline operational automation such as anomaly detection, documentation generation, and automated runbooks Partner directly with portfolio managers, traders, and operations teams, translating front office workflows into robust, high-impact technical solutions The Offer Bonus eligible You Will Receive The Following Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Vacation Time Stock Options Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future.
