About the role

The Senior IT Systems Engineer – AI Tools Operations and Enablement / Change Management role is responsible for stable, scalable day-to-day operations of enterprise AI services while driving broad adoption across Mayo Clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Lead issue triage and runbook-based operations
  • Serve as a product-owner-style partner for enablement in adjacent platforms and business teams
  • Support FinOps and usage optimization
  • Maintain and support moderately complex systems software and hardware computer systems at multiple Mayo Clinic sites
  • Monitor and respond to technical hardware and software problems
  • Interface with vendor support service groups or other external support teams
  • Select, implement, and maintain custom system software
  • Install and maintain purchased systems software
  • Configure and support hardware systems across Mayo Clinic
  • Evaluate new products/technologies and assist with cost/benefit analysis
  • Prepare and present proposals for comprehensive institutional consideration
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the I.T. technical staff and management
  • Perform consulting tasks and act as an information resource and/or mentor

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of demonstrated technical experience or an Associate degree plus 5 years of demonstrated technical experience
  • Experience working in healthcare technology
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple operating systems, including configuration, internals, and maintenance processes
  • A working knowledge of client/server application architecture, clustering, VB and scripting tools, MS SQL Server, Oracle, My SQL, DB2 or Sybase, web architecture, network topologies and protocols, SAN, NAS, virtualized storage environments, system hardware design, ordering, configuration, testing and implementation of large projects
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills using English

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related field; Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline helpful
  • MCSE, CCNA, or other IT related certifications
  • Demonstrated experience in managing operating systems, including configuration, internals, and maintenance processes
  • Knowledge of system design principles, software development methodologies, project management methodologies, and some computer programming and/or system support experience
  • Experience managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications helpful
