Senior IT Systems Analyst
About the role
The Technology Services Department (TS) of the City and County of Denver uses state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies to deliver and improve the systems, applications, and operations to our customers. This role supports Workday and other City applications to serve as a strategic bridge between the business departments and technical execution.
Responsibilities
Lead requirements gathering and translating complex business needs into document business and technical requirements.
Analyze workflows and recommend process improvements.
Learn and support multiple Workday modules and end-to-end business processes.
Create and maintain Workday system and integration requirements in Azure DevOps (ADO).
Partner with users, technical staff, and vendors to understand needs and resolve issues.
Own and resolve service requests and occasional incidents within SLAs.
Support testing activities, including planning, coordination, and user acceptance testing.
Contribute to continuous improvement of analysis practices and tools.
Collaborate with the Application Analysis Manager and receive directions from Product Portfolio Administrators or Project Managers.
Qualifications
3+ years as a Workday Analyst supporting and designing modules and integrations.
Workday Pro Platform Administrator certification is required.
Workday Report Writer certification.
Functional knowledge of at least two Workday modules (e.g., Finance, AR/AP, GL, Fixed Assets, Budgeting, Strategic Sourcing, Payroll/Timekeeping, Procurement).
5+ years as a Systems Analyst in a complex, integrated environment.
Experience leading analysis between business and technical teams.
Skills in integration mapping, process modeling, and data mapping.
Experience troubleshooting enterprise applications.
Understanding of government operational systems.
Strong communication, documentation, and time-management skills.
Ability to support both enterprise-level systems and smaller applications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio, Azure DevOps (ADO), TFS, or similar tools, SQL (basic querying and troubleshooting).
Experience with workflow analysis, APIs/integrations, and ERP design.
Knowledge of business process development and ITIL change management and BPMN and other modeling methods.
Skills

Ability to support both enterprise-level systems and smaller specialized systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Azure DevOps (ADO) / Team Foundation Server (TFS) / JIRA-like tools, ServiceNow, SQL (writing and troubleshooting queries).
Experience with workflow analysis, APIs/integrations, and ERP design.
Knowledge of requirements gathering techniques and modeling (e.g., BPMN).
Ability to educate end users on technology and best practices.
