About the Role

The Senior IT Project Manager leads technology initiatives to successful completion, ensuring alignment with defined scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives. This role partners with business and IT stakeholders to establish project goals, success measures, and delivery expectations, overseeing project planning and execution, including coordination with third-party vendors. The Senior IT Project Manager proactively manages risks, provides project reporting, and maintains effective communication with stakeholders while leading multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define project objectives, success metrics, and expected outcomes
  • Lead project initiatives through all phases of delivery while ensuring adherence to timeline, budget, scope, and quality commitments
  • Assess, document, and manage project changes and evolving business requirements
  • Follow established governance practices, project controls, and delivery methodologies
  • Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive project plans, including milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and target completion dates
  • Coordinate efforts across cross-functional teams operating within a global, matrixed organization
  • Facilitate consistent communication among stakeholders and project teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, responsibilities, and objectives
  • Deliver regular project status updates through both verbal and written communications
  • Partner with operational and support teams to plan and execute implementation, transition, stabilization, and post-deployment support activities
  • Manage external vendor relationships and oversee third-party deliverables when applicable
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks and issues to support successful outcomes

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience in project management, program management, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading large-scale enterprise technology implementation projects
  • Experience within the insurance industry is required; specialty insurance experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience implementing both commercial off-the-shelf software solutions and custom-developed applications
  • Experience supporting projects involving underwriting workbench solutions, policy administration platforms, and billing systems is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with insurance core technology platforms, including Guidewire or comparable solutions, is preferred but not required
  • Ability to lead teams comprised of internal employees, contractors, consultants, and third-party partners
  • Experience managing outsourced vendors and external delivery resources
  • Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects within approved scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations
  • Experience working within global organizations and matrix management environments
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, frameworks, and delivery methodologies
  • Experience utilizing Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and competing priorities concurrently
