Senior IT Auditor

About the role

Mercury is building a complete finance stack for startups, creating an easy and safe banking experience to simplify entrepreneurs' and business owners’ financial lives. As a Senior IT Auditor, you’ll support Mercury’s Internal Audit function by executing the audit plan, driving internal audits, and supporting external audits conducted by partners and third parties. You’ll perform hands-on IT and security audits, assess technology risks and controls, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve Mercury’s control environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, analyzing, and assessing IT, cybersecurity, and data security risks across Mercury.
• Scope and plan multiple audits across Mercury products and operations.
• Conduct process walkthroughs and execute audit testing to confirm the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls.
• Assess compliance with Mercury’s compliance obligations.
• Socialize, document, and report audit issues identified.
• Collaborate with teams to develop action plans, track audit issue remediation, and conduct follow-up testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience scoping and planning new, complex audits.
• Comfort conducting walkthroughs, creating audit test plans, and executing internal controls testing.
• Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to support workflows.
• Experience working with financial services companies and knowledge of laws, regulations, and risk management standards for the industry.
• Familiarity with IT control frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT).
• Exposure to cloud environments (e.g., AWS) and related security controls.
• Experience with security and threat assessments.
• Ability to quickly grasp and understand complex business processes.
• Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills to drive time-sensitive deliverables, issues tracking, and reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage your own schedule and meet deadlines.
• Self-starter mindset with a focus on innovation and efficiency.

Pay

Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry. New hire offers are based on experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity. Target base salary ranges for this role are:

• US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $132,400—$165,500 USD.
• US employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $119,200—$149,000 USD.
• Canadian employees (any location): $125,100—$156,400 CAD.

The total rewards package includes base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits.
