About the role

This role sits at the intersection of investment research, portfolio strategy, and client advisory. You’ll evaluate opportunities across public and private markets, contribute to portfolio decisions and implementation, and translate sophisticated investment thinking into clear guidance for clients, foundations, boards, and trustees.

This is an opportunity for an investment professional who wants both intellectual depth and meaningful client engagement, and the ability to influence the continued evolution of a collaborative investment platform.

The Work

  • Lead investment research and due diligence, evaluating managers, strategies, and opportunities across public and private markets and developing clear investment opinions and recommendations.
  • Monitor investments and markets, assessing existing managers, portfolio exposures, economic conditions, market developments, and emerging opportunities for their relevance to client portfolios.
  • Shape portfolio strategy, bringing research and perspective to asset allocation, manager selection, portfolio positioning, and investment committee decisions.
  • Connect strategy to implementation, partnering with investment leadership to ensure approved investment decisions are reflected consistently across client portfolios.
  • Advise sophisticated families and institutions, serving as a lead investment resource for significant family and foundation relationships and guiding conversations around portfolio strategy, positioning, performance, managers, and markets.
  • Translate investment thinking into client guidance, making complex investment concepts, portfolio decisions, and market developments clear and relevant for clients, boards, trustees, and advisors.
  • Strengthen the investment platform, advancing the firm’s research capabilities, due diligence framework, investment processes, reporting, and investment communications.
  • Partner across the firm, working with investment, wealth advisory, financial planning, and client service teams to connect investment decisions with each client’s broader objectives.
  • Contribute to leadership and growth, mentoring investment professionals, participating in prospective client conversations, and helping articulate Heritage’s investment philosophy and capabilities.

The Investment Professional We’re Looking For

  • You think like an investor, bringing intellectual rigor, sound judgment, and a well-developed point of view to evaluating managers, markets, and investment opportunities.
  • You communicate with clarity, translating sophisticated investment concepts into thoughtful conversations that build understanding and credibility with clients.
  • You are equally comfortable with analysis and relationships, moving naturally between investment research, portfolio discussions, and the needs of sophisticated families and institutions.
  • You embrace breadth, with an interest in public and private markets and an understanding of how individual investment decisions fit within a broader portfolio.
  • You are adaptable in how you work, using emerging technology and AI-enabled tools to improve investment research, analysis, communication, and team effectiveness.
  • You collaborate naturally, contributing your expertise while valuing perspectives across investment, planning, advisory, and client teams.
  • You want to help build, bringing curiosity, initiative, and a desire to continually strengthen the investment process, team, and client experience.

Qualifications

  • Professional designation or advanced credential such as CFA, CIMA, MBA, or similar.
  • Significant relevant experience in wealth management, family office, investment management, endowment and foundation investing, institutional advisory, or a related investment discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in investment research, manager due diligence, and analysis across public and private markets.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio construction, asset allocation, manager selection, investment implementation, and ongoing portfolio oversight.
  • Experience leading investment conversations with high-net-worth families, foundations, endowments, boards, trustees, or other sophisticated investors.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
