Senior Investment Reporting Analyst

The Senior Investment Analyst oversees and reviews U.S. Statutory (NAIC – National Association of Insurance Commissioners) and U.S. GAAP, regulatory, tax, and/or Board financial reporting for separate accounts of the Insurance Company, subsidiaries, and affiliates. This role requires a thorough understanding of accounting pronouncements and their appropriate application to the investment portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review quarterly/annual statutory NAIC state financial reporting, supplements, annual audited financial statements, and surveys.
- Coordinate investment presentation in financial statements on a quarterly basis.
- Research and propose new disclosures and modifications to reports in response to new pronouncements, guidelines, and investment types.
- Interpret new pronouncements and guidelines issued by authoritative associations related to U.S. Statutory, U.S. GAAP, or various regulations.
- Recommend appropriate changes to accounting systems and presentation of information.
- Research and document process improvements and system enhancements to increase overall effectiveness and efficiency for internal and external reporting initiatives.
- Assist with new process and project implementation.
- Coordinate audits for Investments and explain the Company’s position.
- Monitor the reporting database and make adjustments where necessary.
- Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests, requiring interpretation, professional formatting, and explanation of results.
- Reconcile and research ledger balances for accuracy between multiple systems.
- Prepare U.S. GAAP Annual Registered Financial Statements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 4-6 years of financial reporting experience.
- Advanced MS Office Skills (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
- Understanding of various reporting systems (Blackline, EASY, SAP, PAM, Phoenix, Unit Value Cloud).
Skills
- Public accounting or investment-related financial reporting experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Statutory (NAIC) and/or GAAP accounting principles.
- Previous experience in investments strongly preferred.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to utilize creative thinking toward improvement of business processes and internal controls, and follow-through in all stages from design to implementation.
- Attention to detail, analytical acumen, and excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple and competing priorities.
- Self-driven with the ability to deal with ambiguity, a willingness to learn, and take on additional responsibilities.
- Proficient in MS Office, including advanced Excel skills.
- Process improvement mindset.
- Experience using Alteryx and Wings annual statement software a plus.
- Familiarity with Workiva reporting system and WDesk.

Pay
Base Salary Range: $79,400.00 - $112,175.00. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
