Senior Investment Analyst - High Yield Credit

About the role

At the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), a 60-person investment staff manages a $129 billion portfolio of diversified assets across public and private markets. The External Public Markets team is seeking a Senior Investment Analyst to support all aspects of investment and portfolio management. The Investment Analyst will apply strong critical thinking and analytical skills to develop portfolio insights, analyze portfolio construction, and make investment recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth fundamental issuer and industry research on assigned sectors within the High Yield ratings spectrum.
• Work closely with the High Yield Portfolio Manager to identify attractive investment opportunities and develop strategies to help the portfolio beat its benchmark.
• Focus primarily on high yield issuers located in the United States.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree; an MBA is preferred.
• At least five years of experience in investment analysis.
• Aptitude for understanding financial information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to a changing investment and organizational environment.
• Ability to perform and understand higher-order mathematics for economic, investment, and portfolio management reports.
• Experience working with Bloomberg.
• CFA preferred.
• Ability to become licensed as a State Retirement System Investment Officer (SRSIO) within six months of hire and to abide by the OPERS Personal Trading Policy.
