About the Role

GWA is seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Senior Investment Analyst to join its growing Family Office investment team. The analyst will evaluate investment opportunities and support the deployment and ongoing management of significant Family Office capital across public and private markets. This hands‑on role involves reviewing pitch decks, researching industries, analyzing financial statements, building financial models, questioning assumptions, speaking with investment managers or company executives, and developing clear, well‑supported investment recommendations. The position offers a growth path toward senior investment leadership as the Family Office capabilities expand.

Responsibilities

  • Investment Analysis & Underwriting: Evaluate prospective investments across public and private markets, with emphasis on private equity, direct investments, co‑investments, private credit, real estate, and other alternatives. Review pitch decks, memoranda, financial statements, capitalization tables, and operating models. Build detailed financial models, including valuation, return, sensitivity, scenario analyses, and investment waterfalls. Analyze business models, industry dynamics, competitive positioning, management teams, capital structures, growth assumptions, and exit scenarios. Conduct independent research and due diligence to validate sponsor assumptions, identify key risks and opportunities, and produce concise written analyses for senior leadership and investment committees.
  • Private Markets & Manager Due Diligence: Evaluate private equity funds, direct private company investments, venture capital, private credit, real estate, and other alternatives. Assess investment managers’ strategy, performance history, team, process, portfolio construction, fees, incentives, and alignment of interests. Participate in diligence calls and meetings with sponsors, fund managers, executives, bankers, and other professionals. Model prospective transactions under multiple operating, financing, and exit scenarios. Maintain and prioritize the pipeline of prospective investments from initial review through final decision.
  • Portfolio Analysis & Investment Strategy: Support development and implementation of asset allocation and investment strategies for Ultra High Net Worth and Family Office clients. Analyze portfolio exposures across asset classes, managers, industries, geographies, liquidity profiles, and other risk factors. Assist with liquidity planning and deployment of new capital following client liquidity events. Monitor existing investments for material changes in performance, outlook, valuation, or risk. Evaluate new opportunities in the context of the overall client portfolio and help refine analytical tools for performance, commitments, cash flows, exposures, liquidity, and risk monitoring.
  • Investment Decision Support & Communication: Prepare investment committee materials that clearly communicate the investment thesis, expected returns, risks, key assumptions, and recommendation. Present findings and recommendations to senior team members. Translate complex financial concepts into concise conclusions for both investment professionals and clients. Collaborate with GWA’s wealth management, financial planning, tax, estate planning, and Family Office professionals to consider broader implications. Coordinate with outside managers, attorneys, accountants, bankers, and other advisors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Approximately five years of relevant investment experience in private equity, investment banking, family office investing, institutional asset management, private credit, investment management, or a similar analytical role.
  • CFA designation strongly preferred.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • Meaningful experience evaluating private equity, direct investments, co‑investments, or other alternative investments.
  • Excellent financial modeling skills and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation, capital structures, investment returns, and fundamental investment analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous investment research and due diligence.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar businesses, industries, and investment structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex analysis into clear and concise recommendations.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in how businesses operate, compete, create value, and generate returns.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining an ability to recognize the larger strategic and investment picture.
