Senior Integrated Water Resource Planner / Engineer

HDR is positioned to be the market leader for federal planning under section 203, in addition to supporting the US Army Corps of Engineers and other clients under the investigations account and Continuing Authorities Program. Our clients include local, state, and federal agencies, and our team works on a range of challenging and innovative projects within multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct medium- to large-size planning and environmental compliance projects on behalf of the federal government
• Prepare, plan, and analyze compliance documents
• Direct work of others in completion of required studies, documents, and reports
• Demonstrate extensive public participation, agency coordination, planning, and programming experience
• Serve as a key part of project delivery teams as study team leader or planning lead
• Mentor junior staff and manage medium-sized projects within large-scale programs
• Effectively interact with clients and peers in a collaborative team environment
• Develop study opportunities with an array of non-federal sponsors across your assigned area
• Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
• A minimum of 10 years technical and/or field experience in complex environmental planning projects
• Leadership and technical experience in integrated planning related to water supply, flood risk management, coastal storm risk management, environmental restoration, inland and deep draft navigation infrastructure projects
• Experience with watershed scale feasibility studies/assessments for the federal government (e.g., USACE, Bureau of Reclamation)
• Experience with federal plan formulation requirements and USACE Smart Planning Frameworks
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving, and research abilities
• Technical and/or field experience dealing with environmental impact issues, associated permit processes, and documentation preparation/review
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently

Skills

Preferred experience in a combination of the following areas:

• Hydraulic and power modeling, including hydrology development and analysis
• Climate change modeling
• Cost-benefit analysis and statistical analysis
• Navigation, flood management, and water supply projects

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $195,000 depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.

Schedule

Full-time, regular employee status.
