About the role

Alexander & Schmidt is seeking a Senior Insurance Loss Control Consultant to perform inspections and prepare detailed reports for insurance underwriting purposes. These reports help insurance companies properly insure commercial buildings or business operations for new policies or renewals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and prepare in-depth reports for insurance underwriting purposes.
  • Assist insurance companies in selecting profitable businesses through high-quality, accurate loss control surveys.
  • Guide insured clients in controlling losses through loss control services.
  • Conduct property assessments, including determining the adequacy of sprinkler systems based on occupancy, commodities, and racking systems.
  • Assess inland marine coverages such as builders risk, contractor’s equipment, motor truck cargo, WLL and MOLL, and other specialty coverage types.
  • Review Commercial General Liability policies for premises, operations, products, and completed operations.
  • Assess Workers Compensation for regulatory compliance and workplace safety.
  • Analyze loss data to identify trends, root causes, and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk improvement services including training, consulting, hazard analysis, and regulatory assessments.
  • Prepare and upload completed reports, photos, and diagrams through a special website or complete reports on web-based systems.
  • Travel within a reasonable territory, up to a 60-mile radius.

Requirements

  • MUST HAVE 10+ years’ experience with a major carrier or as an independent contractor providing commercial insurance loss control services.
  • Extensive understanding of commercial property and casualty lines.
  • Strong communication skills, including exceptional writing ability, organizational skills, and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, OHST, ALCM, or ARM are preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in loss control and risk assessment.
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and standards.
  • Ability to travel within a reasonable territory.
