About the role

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Inspector – Water/Wastewater to join our Water Team in Charlotte, NC. This is a part-time, as-needed position supporting the construction of vital water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects to ensure full compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards
  • Review drawings, submittals, and construction documents; verify materials, methods, and work sequences meet requirements
  • Document field observations, measurements, and computations to determine acceptability of completed work and support progress payment verification
  • Identify nonconforming work, evaluate proposed corrective measures, and recommend acceptance or rejection
  • Cook up daily with owners, contractors, and local authorities; serve as the primary on-site contact for construction-related issues
  • Prepare clear daily reports, maintain accurate project records, and support QA testing, surveys, and constructability reviews
  • Lead project meetings, guide administrative documentation, and mentor entry-level inspectors to support successful project delivery

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of related construction observation experience required
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, contract documents, and industry standards with the ability to interpret client contracts
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects as well as collaboratively within a team; willingness to guide entry level staff
  • Excellent communication skills and strong mathematics skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license required; extensive travel may be required

Pay

Salary Range: $34.00 - $40.00 per hour

The salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
