About the Role

Responsibilities
- Identify real user problems and translate them into breakthrough product concepts
- Build and iterate prototypes, leveraging 3D modeling, simulation, and rapid prototyping tools
- Generate and refine concepts in ambiguous problem spaces using structured ideation and good engineering judgment
- Participate in and translate field research into user feedback, observations, and actionable insights
- Perform engineering analysis to evaluate feasibility, performance, risk, and design tradeoffs
- Drive collaboration with product marketing, design research, industrial design, NPD/ADV engineering, and project leadership to push the boundaries of innovation
- Communicate clearly to stakeholders, including design intent, tradeoffs, progress, and recommendations
- Define and evaluate critical user benefits, business fit, and technical feasibility
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechatronics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in product development, innovation, or concept engineering, with demonstrated ability to deliver innovative solutions
- Experience on front end innovation teams preferred
- Strong and evolving foundation in engineering fundamentals (mechanics, materials, analysis, tolerancing, statics, dynamics, and manufacturing processes)
- Experience creating and using prototypes, models, or other tools to drive learning and decision-making
- Ability to utilize CAD, Analysis Tools, 3D Printing, rapid prototyping methods, and office suite
- Demonstrated ability to leverage strategy-level critical thinking skills that span disciplines to ensure the right ideas move forward
- A curious, hands-on attitude driven by extreme ownership and bias toward action
- Ability to operate with speed, agility, and urgency in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
- High interest in tools of trade and improving how they are employed
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time (domestic and international)
