About the role

Slash is building the future of business banking, combining the reliability of traditional banking with industry-specific features to make businesses more efficient, competitive, and profitable. Founded in 2021, Slash powers over ten billion dollars in business purchasing annually and recently raised a $100M Series C round.

Responsibilities

  • Influence and implement the next generation of Slash's database, real-time workflow, and container orchestration infrastructure
  • Scale and evolve our Kubernetes (EKS) platform, CockroachDB clusters, Kafka (MSK), Temporal workflows, and ElastiCache Redis as we grow through hypergrowth
  • Work across engineering to introduce and scale best practices with cloud-native technologies like AWS ALB, WAF, Route 53, OpenSearch, S3, and Vercel
  • Build and maintain abstractions within Terraform and Pulumi to simplify architecture, increase velocity, and push ownership to product teams
  • Improve the speed and reliability of our CI/CD pipeline
  • Find solutions to Slash's toughest scaling, performance, and low-latency problems across a monolithic deployment serving burst financial traffic

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years of experience shipping high-quality infrastructure for critical, high-availability systems
  • Production experience in AWS (EKS, ALB, MSK, ElastiCache, S3, WAF, VPC networking)
  • Proficiency in TypeScript or another object-oriented language
  • An ability to think through internal engineering requirements and come up with high-impact ways to quickly unblock teams
  • Deep experience in one or more of the following: Large-scale distributed SQL database administration (e.g. CockroachDB, PostgreSQL), Real-time workflow and queue systems (e.g. Temporal), Container orchestration and service infrastructure (Kubernetes/EKS, load balancing, ingress, service mesh)

Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies and architectures
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
