Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Milwaukee, WI (Hybrid) – Contract role reporting to the VP, IT Infrastructure and Operations at our Headquarters.

About the role

This individual will be responsible for infrastructure hardware, cloud platforms, and systems software used by the business and third-party businesses. Responsibilities include maintenance, system improvements (with a focus on automation), security, overall system health, optimization, and consultation for future solutions. Ensures continuous operation and delivery of IT services to support associates and members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT Infrastructure delivery and/or support role.
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in an IT infrastructure delivery and support role.
• Minimum 5 years proven experience with system security and enterprise data protection across integrated systems.
• Minimum 3 years experience with enterprise networking (Layer 2 and 3 network switches, OSI layers, TCP/IP, VLAN and subnet management). Preferred working knowledge of SDWAN.
• Minimum 3 years proven experience with virtualization, containerization, server OS, and storage technologies.
• Minimum 2 years proven experience with scripting/automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, Python, etc.
• Minimum 2 years proven experience with cloud computing (Microsoft Azure preferred).
• Minimum 2 years proven experience supporting Active Directory and Entra ID accounts and policies.
• Minimum 1 year proven experience with monitoring tools/systems.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to branches.
• On-call availability for emergency support calls 24/7 with a half-hour response time and off-hours availability for maintenance windows.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to create accurate architecture diagrams and documentation for integrated enterprise systems and networks.
• Demonstrated ability to use judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
• Demonstrated experience balancing multiple priorities and managing a variety of projects in a high-volume work environment with strong attention to detail.
• Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to the position.
• Understanding of and compliance with all job-related state and federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Implement, administer, and troubleshoot cloud and on-premises infrastructure including servers, storage, network, and related software and applications.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve physical hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
• Replace faulty infrastructure and out-of-support software when required.
• Conduct scheduled system checkups and prepare reports.
• Provide consultation to business partners related to future system integrations.
• Ensure disaster recovery solution is operational, maintained, and meeting business needs.
• Adhere to the company’s ITIL processes in the ITSM system that documents requests, incidents, problems, and changes.
• Provide a proactive approach and thought leadership to implement efficiencies in the environment.
• Deliver excellent customer service, resolving support requests and ensuring prompt and effective resolutions within agreed service timescales.
• Perform maintenance tasks on supported infrastructure and applications during after-business-hours maintenance windows when required.
• Escalate calls where significant service-affecting incidents or security breaches occur as appropriate.
• Follow standard operating procedures relating to management of the infrastructure platforms and security environments.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation.
• Perform project work and other duties as assigned.
