About the role

We are looking for a Senior Industrial Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Quonset, RI.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing the manufacturing operations behind these vehicles inside a large-scale R&D environment where the line, the product, and the processes are all maturing at once.

You'll take a data-driven approach to designing production lines and workstation layouts — from prototype and low-rate build through full-rate production — and own the metrics that keep them healthy.

This is holistic ownership in a fast-paced, resource-limited setting, working shoulder-to-shoulder with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Business Operations to get complex undersea hardware built and shipped to spec.

Responsibilities

  • Design production lines and workstation layouts for undersea vehicle build — from R&D/low-rate through full-rate — using Value Stream Mapping, line balancing, and material-flow (pull/Kanban) methods
  • Specify, justify, and deploy capital equipment and tooling — define requirements for large-scale assembly, handling, and test equipment; own the business case and capex justification; and manage vendor selection, build, install, and qualification through to production readiness
  • Own the production-health metrics and KPIs (cycle time, throughput, capacity, utilization, first-pass yield, quality) and build the tools and reports that communicate line health to Manufacturing leads and across the org
  • Model and simulate operations (e.g., Siemens Plant/Process Simulation) to test layout and capacity scenarios before committing capital and floor space
  • Identify bottlenecks and constraints — layout, part shortages, staffing, tooling — flag them to the right owners across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality, and drive resolution so decision-makers have clear clear-to-build, cut-in, and buy signals

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a low-rate, high-mix manufacturing or supply-chain role building complex electro-mechanical assemblies, with heavy reliance on data
  • Experience managing large capex budgets — specifying, sourcing, and commissioning manufacturing / test equipment for heavy complex assemblies
  • Proven line/facility design: value stream mapping, continuous/one-piece flow, and workstation design
  • Deep material-flow expertise: pull systems, Kanban, min/max, part presentation, lineside racking and packaging
  • Experience modeling operations in production simulation software (Siemens Plant Simulation / Process Simulation)
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a value chain, coordinating internal and external parties to hit on-time, on-quality deliveries
  • Working knowledge of an MES and an ERP (Oracle or equivalent)
  • Grounding in Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation
  • Bachelor's or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Computer Engineering
  • Hands-on design of tooling, fixtures, or GSE (ground support equipment) for heavy or large-format hardware
  • Proficiency in CAD drafting (AutoCAD a plus)
  • SQL experience — querying and storing manufacturing/inventory metrics
  • Experience in a marine, subsea, or other regulated/harsh-environment hardware program
  • Able to read technical documentation (drawings, vendor schematics, CAD)
  • Able to understand hardware processes across electronics and mechanical structures
  • Bias toward speed and accuracy and a willingness to take on responsibility across manufacturing, engineering, and operations
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Qualifications

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Skills

  • Data-driven approach to production line design
  • Capital equipment and tooling deployment
  • Production health metrics and KPI management
  • Operations modeling and simulation
  • Identification and resolution of bottlenecks and constraints
  • Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation
  • Technical documentation reading and understanding
  • Marine, subsea, or regulated/harsh-environment hardware experience

Benefits

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.

Hightly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
