Day to Day Responsibilities
- Research, collect, and analyze data related to mineral production or mineral markets to identify opportunities and formulate possible courses of action
- Assess risk and risk mitigations in mineral supply chains, processing technologies, or project proposals
- Cook up strategies to mitigate critical minerals and materials requirements in coordination with the Department of War, executive interagency, and military services
- Advise senior officials on prioritizing and acting against national- and global-level minerals and materials supply chain issues
- Lead industry, market, and technical research and analysis to develop mature investment strategies, incorporating government, commercial, and private support mechanisms
- Develop and maintain budget and execution plans for large $1B+ annual programming, spanning dozens of large-scale multinational minerals, materials, and infrastructure projects
- Prepare documentation/records during project execution to inform leadership and conform to auditing standards, including tracking financial progress, expense rates, and overall schedule across the portfolio
- Lead the development and evaluation of industry project calls to deliver technical capabilities from prototype to full commercial-scale, including by evaluating proposed acquisition strategies and reviewing documentation in support of project negotiations
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as materials and mining, materials science, geophysics, metallurgy, chemistry, geology or similar
- 18+ years of relevant experience in mineral processing, production, science or technology analysis. Accepts 10 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
- Understanding of / experience in one of the following technical areas: Critical and Strategic Materials/Minerals, Minerology, Mineral Exploration, or Geology
- Demonstrated familiarity with the DoD acquisition process and PPBE
- Understanding of federal acquisition management
- Ability to work well in a team setting and provide guidance to junior/mid-level engineers and technical analysts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior OSD or staff level experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering concepts and methods
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent
- Experience working with non-standard acquisition pathways (e.g., equity deals)
Pay
Full Time Salary Range for this position: $119,200 - $172,900 USD
