About the role
The Senior Income Tax Accountant supports global income tax reporting and compliance responsibilities through preparation of the income tax provision, compliance reporting, and tax-related analysis. This role serves as a subject matter expert within the tax department, independently leads assigned tax processes, and drives improvements that strengthen reporting accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead assigned components of the quarterly and annual global income tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740.
- Calculate and analyze current and deferred tax assets and liabilities to support accurate financial reporting and tax provision outcomes.
- Prepare tax account reconciliations, rollforwards, and supporting schedules used in the tax provision and financial reporting process.
- Assist with the preparation of income tax disclosures included in SEC filings and financial statements.
- Evaluate and document uncertain tax positions under ASC 740 and FIN 48, providing technical support on related income tax matters.
- Review and prepare data provided to external tax service providers for U.S. federal and state income tax compliance filings.
- Research and document the tax impacts of new accounting standards, business transactions, and changes in tax law.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and service providers to support return preparation and filing requirements.
- Support estimated tax payments, extension filings, and tax calendar activities to help ensure timely compliance with filing obligations.
- Assist with state tax audits, notices, and taxing authority inquiries by preparing documentation, analysis, and responses as needed.
- Coordinate international tax reporting support by gathering information from foreign subsidiaries and assisting with calculations related to global tax provisions.
- Support U.S. multinational compliance requirements, such as Forms 5471 and other related income tax reporting.
- Maintain accurate tax documentation and supporting records to meet internal control, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze tax and financial data to identify trends, reconcile differences, and support tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities.
- Serve as a subject matter resource for income tax accounting, tax provision matters, and compliance requirements.
- Lead initiatives that improve income tax processes, strengthen controls, and increase reporting efficiency through automation and technology.
- Partner with accounting, finance, and business teams to support tax-related initiatives and resolve complex income tax matters.
- Stay informed of tax law developments, accounting guidance, and industry practices that may impact income tax reporting and compliance responsibilities.
- Coordinate with external advisors on property tax renditions, audits, and related compliance requirements.
- Support business tax reporting activities, including the calculation and accrual of real estate and personal property taxes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of income tax experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 income tax accounting and tax provision preparation.
- Experience with U.S. multinational compliance requirements, including Forms 5471 and related reporting.
- Ability to independently manage complex income tax workstreams with strong ownership, judgment, and follow-through.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex tax and financial information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and document tax data in a clear and audit-ready manner.
- Ability to maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance when working with sensitive financial and tax information.
Preferred skills
- Experience supporting multinational organizations.
- Knowledge of international tax concepts and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in tax provision and compliance software such as OneSource.
- Experience supporting tax audits and responding to tax authority inquiries.
- Exposure to SEC reporting requirements.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or progress toward certification.
