About the Role
We're working with an engineering services firm looking for a fully competent Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to lead the production of instrumentation and control design deliverables on complex power and process projects.
You'll work independently on assigned projects with general direction on expected results - applying sound judgment to adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, and devising new approaches where standard solutions fall short. You'll receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory sign-off on proposed project plans, while may also supervising engineers or technicians on your assigned work.
What You'll Do
- Lead production of instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including Instrument Index and Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) data sheets
- Lead control systems (DCS and/or PLC) and control design deliverables, including I/O lists and Process Control Narratives
- Apply commonly used I&C engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures
- Perform engineering studies, prepare specifications, evaluate proposals, and develop estimates
- Recommend purchase of control systems components
- May supervise engineers or technicians on assigned work (unless a licensed Professional Engineer is required)
- Maintain current knowledge of new and innovative techniques in the controls engineering field
- Prepare and deliver training for other personnel, both internally and for customers
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited program
- 6+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience
- Strong background in instrument and control systems
- Training and experience with distributed control systems (e.g., ABB, Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000, Mark VIe, GE MicroNet)
- Knowledge of control systems for gas boilers and turbines
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with engineering and computer software (MS Office, AutoCAD, 2D/3D CAD, Bluebeam, Revit, Navisworks, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting deadlines
- Willingness to travel and work in both office and field environments
