About the role
NVIDIA is seeking a Senior High Performance Computing (HPC) Performance Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced AI-powered applications in scientific machine learning. The ideal candidate will have a background in computational fields and experience in optimizing ML models and developing HPC software stacks.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement computationally performant features for large-scale, CUDA-backed ML training frameworks, utilizing low-level acceleration and scaling strategies like kernel design, GPU porting, and data structure innovations.
- Optimize computational performance of a wide range of business-critical ML models using accelerated hardware and software stacks, as well as algorithmic improvements.
- Develop and maintain HPC software stacks for atomistic modeling and generative machine learning in digital biology and beyond.
- Collaborate with multiple HPC, AI infrastructure, and research teams to drive the testing and maintenance of algorithms and software modules.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Computational Biophysics, Computational Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in performance engineering and software design.
- Deep understanding of parallel programming in C++ and Python, with experience in CUDA or OAI Triton.
- Fluency in modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, and Warp.
- Experience with HPC solutions for research problems in biology and chemistry, including atomistic simulations.
- Recognized for technical leadership contributions and ability to learn from and teach others.

Pay
Base salary range: $184,000 - $287,500 USD.
