Requirements

• 5 years of experience playing league hockey
• USA Hockey registered member
• Willing to become a level 1 USA Hockey Certified coach, which includes continuing coaching education
• Must pass City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks

Essential Functions

• Instructs and coaches adult and youth hockey classes and teams
• Follows plans from the Hockey Department
• Prepares ice for practice by checking nets and ice for safety hazards
• Answers questions from parents, guardians, and players regarding practice plans
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of: ice hockey rules and regulations; fundamentals of ice hockey to include skating, shooting, passing, etc.; and general customer service techniques.

Ability to: interpret and apply various rules and regulations; maintain good relations with coaches, officials, parents, and players; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Physical Efforts: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
