Responsibilities
- Total management of the Purebred Beef Cattle Center and Purebred Beef Cattle Range to facilitate availability of cattle for classwork and other educational activities.
- Assist in and instruct/teach class laboratory sections.
- Coordinate proper feeding and management of cattle.
- Supervise the clipping and washing of animals.
- Maintain appearance and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Aid in the maintenance of sound fiscal management and financial responsibilities of the operations, including a positive cash flow and positive fiscal year end (June 30) balances.
- (a) Maintain extensive detailed records needed for measuring performance, registering purebred cattle and preparation of sale catalogs,
- (b) Submit registration paperwork to breed associations to register cattle,
- (c) Prepare sale catalog.
- Assist in sire selection and culling.
- Coordinate the weighing, measuring and scoring for frame size and sex character.
- Responsible for marketing of cattle including establishing selling price, transport to state and national shows, advertising layouts, planning and coordination of Annual OSU Cowboy Classic Purebred Cattle Sale.
- Facilitate recruitment and retention of students interested in purebred beef cattle.
- Maintain good public relations by attending cattle events in Oklahoma and surrounding states.
- Conduct numerous tours for groups and individuals.
- Assist in instructing laboratory sections in 1124, 4613, 4713, and beef production courses.
- Aid in conducting/teaching state and national beef conferences, including conduct of 4-H and FFA judging contests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related area (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- 5 years of related experience in agriculture or related working experience with purebred beef cattle.
Qualifications
- Valid Drivers license.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency in heat detection and artificial insemination, as well as monitoring the health and well-being of all ages of beef cattle.

Pay
$48,340 - $67,480
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
