About the Role
Out of school time staff available to work a split shift with a consistent schedule. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with EEC regulations and Old Colony Y policies, assisting with program curriculum development, and providing leadership in daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Understand and ensure EEC regulations and Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care, Child Guidance, Health Care) are maintained at all times.
- Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA’s policies.
- Adapt school-age lesson plans to meet the needs of individual children, considering interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural diversity, and learning styles.
- Provide leadership for daily activities, including Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, and Fun/Food Curriculum.
- Maintain QRIS standards.
- Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel, and potential clients.
- Supervise children in all program locations, trips, and activities.
- Assist in completing necessary documentation, such as accident reports, incident reports, and attendance records.
- Provide input in the weekly staffing schedule.
- Assist in the timely issuance of a monthly newsletter/calendar of events for families.
- Act as a positive role model and maintain proper behavior of children with strict adherence to YMCA policies.
- Ensure Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning, and guidelines meet HEPA standards.
- Maintain attendance records and all necessary reports.
- Meet with the School Age Site Coordinator as directed.
- Provide leadership in weekly site staff meetings and monthly asset/school-age curriculum meetings.
- Establish and maintain effective training programs and professional growth opportunities.
- Build and maintain working relationships with school or other site-specific personnel.
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with 9 months of experience with school-age children, or a High School diploma or equivalent with one year of experience working with school-age children.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Evidence of a physical examination within the last 12 months.
- Immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
- Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work as part of a cohesive team.
- Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
- Willingness to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends as needed.
- Strong oral communication skills for occasional public speaking.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 40 lbs frequently (children), and move intermittently during work hours.
- Thorough understanding of Y-USA’s three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
- Proven ability to identify and meet the needs of children and families.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–9:00 AM and 3:00 PM–6:00 PM.
