About the role

The Grants & Contracts Administrator position is part of the Law Center’s Financial Affairs Team. This role works closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), Program Staff, Contracts, Human Resources, Joint Office of Research Administration (JORA), and Sponsor Projects Financial Operations (SPFO) to manage grants and revenue generating agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the financial management of assigned cost centers with multi-year grants, gifts, contracts, and other funding.
  • Ensuring grant management of all awards and financial operations of the Centers & Institutes are on schedule, within the scope of work and budget, and of the utmost quality.
  • Providing input to faculty members and proposal preparation staff on the appropriateness of budgeted items.
  • Ensuring reports are compatible with accounting practices and follow federal rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring PIs have the necessary financial analysis and guidance to make appropriate decisions throughout the lifetime of the award.
  • Supporting the PIs of the Centers and Institutes and various groups and individuals within the organization who rely on and benefit from financial information to make informed business decisions through financial analyses (i.e. current policies and processes, actual performance vs. budget).
  • Preparing financial data for distribution to management, as well as donors.
  • Working closely with ORS, SPFO, and the cash office to ensure the awards are set up properly, reports are turned in on time, and payments are being credited to the appropriate award.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or similar is required.
  • Master degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in an academic research environment or a non-profit organization.
  • Expertise in grant and contract administration in a higher education or non-profit setting is preferred.
  • Experience with budget preparation and budget justifications; ability to provide input to faculty members and proposal preparation staff on the appropriateness of budgeted items.
