Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual grants plan aligned with Foundation priorities, campaign goals, and programmatic needs.
- Build and manage a strategic calendar of grant opportunities, deadlines, and submissions.
- Identify, qualify, and prioritize foundation, corporate, and government funding sources.
- Establish annual grant revenue goals and monitor progress against targets.
- Lead the development of high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests.
- Translate complex clinical programs, capital priorities, and community health initiatives into compelling narratives.
- Partner with program, finance, and development leaders to gather data, budgets, and outcomes required for submissions.
- Ensure all proposals are tailored, strategic, and aligned with funder priorities.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and workflow management for the Junior Grant Writer.
- Delegate assignments and ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to deadlines across all grant submissions.
- Establish templates, processes, and standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness of grant writing functions.
- Cross-team inputs to ensure seamless execution of the grants pipeline.
Stewardship, Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee all grant reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports and outcomes.
- Track grant deliverables, deadlines, and funding outcomes in collaboration with development operations.
- Ensure compliance with all funder requirements, including documentation, recognition, and restricted fund management.
- Support stewardship strategies to strengthen funder relationships and drive renewals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Events & Engagement team to align grant opportunities with sponsorships, signature events, and community-facing initiatives.
- Collaborate with major gift officers to coordinate institutional funding strategies alongside individual giving opportunities.
- Work with CRM/data and finance teams to track revenue, reporting, and impact metrics.
- Support campaign planning by identifying and positioning institutional funding opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5+ years of professional grant writing experience, preferably in healthcare, higher education, or nonprofit organizations.
- Demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure grants.
- Experience managing projects, timelines, and multiple concurrent submissions.
- Strong leadership ability with experience supervising or coordinating junior staff or contributors.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
- Healthcare philanthropy or academic medical center experience.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and grant tracking tools.
- Experience working in campaign or capital funding environments.
