Senior Geotechnical Engineering Project Manager

Responsibilities
- Handle geotechnical reports from inception to completion, including proposal and reporting phases.
- Perform independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, with minor adaptations as needed.
- Prepare and review engineering reports, project plans, and specifications.
- Assign, track, and manage work/tasks to staff.
- Prepare scopes, budgets, task orders, and schedules for project task assignments.
- Prepare proposals to provide professional services.
- Review recommendations with Professional Engineers, Senior Project Managers, and Principal Consultants.
- Maintain and leverage client relationships to develop new project opportunities.
- Attend client site meetings and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Work on one or multiple projects at a time.
- Train technicians and other technical staff.
- Perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests as needed.
- Work both in the field and laboratory occasionally.
- Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
- 15+ years of experience managing Construction Materials Testing & Geotechnical Engineering operations.
- 5+ years of leadership, management, and/or project management experience in Construction Materials Testing & Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Geologist Registration in North Carolina.
- Business development and project proposal creation/management experience.
- Prior personnel management, hiring, and training experience.
- P&L responsibilities management experience.
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) and solid interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand work plans.
- Ability to work off-shift and overtime as needed.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating as a CMT/Geotechnical Department Manager.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with NCDOT processes, formats, specifications, and guidelines.
- Experience with NCDOT WFI, BFI, PDA, and related software such as GRLWEAP, Slide, and MSEWall.
