About the Role
This position would suit a Senior or Principal-level Geotechnical Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, advising clients and supporting the development of others. You would be involved in leading and delivering geotechnical engineering work across Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the wider Mid-Atlantic region.
Responsibilities
- Managing geotechnical projects from proposal through completion
- Preparing and reviewing geotechnical reports, recommendations, proposals and technical specifications
- Leading subsurface investigation programs and interpreting field and laboratory data
- Providing geotechnical input on foundations, earthwork, retaining structures, slope stability, settlement, groundwater and construction-phase issues
- Working alongside structural and geostructural teams on foundations, retaining walls, support of excavation and related soil-structure interaction challenges
- Acting as a technical resource for project managers, engineers, field teams and regional offices
- Supporting client relationships, business development and technical scoping
- Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers as the team continues to grow
Ideal Background
The company is open to speaking with experienced geotechnical professionals at Senior, Principal or similar levels. You do not need to match every requirement perfectly, but the ideal profile would include:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
- PE license
- Strong geotechnical engineering experience, ideally around 8 to 10+ years
- Experience preparing and reviewing geotechnical reports
- Practical knowledge of subsurface investigations, foundations, retaining systems, settlement, slope stability, earthwork and construction-phase geotechnical support
- Project management experience, including client communication, schedules, budgets and technical delivery
- A confident, practical communication style with clients, contractors, field teams and internal stakeholders
- Exposure to geostructural or structural-adjacent work would be beneficial, particularly around foundations, retaining walls and support of excavation
Who This Could Suit
This could be a particularly strong fit if you are:
- A Senior Geotechnical Engineer ready for more influence
- A Project Manager looking for a stronger technical platform
- A Principal-level engineer interested in helping grow a regional practice
- A geotechnical professional who wants to join an employee-owned firm with clearer long-term upside
- Someone who enjoys a mix of technical delivery, client-facing work and mentoring
The company is actively growing and is open to exploratory conversations with strong geotechnical professionals, even where the fit is not exact on paper.
