SOCOTEC’s Specialty Engineering Team offers highly technical services in evaluating an asset’s integrity, reliability, and operational capabilities. Our professionals evaluate projects, materials, engineering systems, and their components to determine performance, mitigate risk, enhance quality, and provide advice on impacts. Specializations include failure analysis, non-destructive engineering, fitness for service, probabilistic analysis, technical modeling, materials testing, and other niche engineering projects. The team tackles technical challenges, disputes, investigations, testing, and more to drive projects to safe and successful completion.

About the role

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will investigate residential and commercial sites to evaluate the cause and origin of geotechnical failures, damages, or defects; conduct and manage forensic geotechnical evaluations; and direct, review, and oversee small to large private and public geotechnical projects. Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, providing leadership, maintaining client relationships, assisting in marketing and business development, delivering ongoing training to engineering staff, directing and reviewing engineering work products, and preparing, reviewing, and signing geotechnical proposals and reports.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas
  • Over 10 years of experience with a geotechnical consulting firm performing the duties described
  • Well-rounded background in geotechnical engineering
  • Strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proven track record of successful client relationships and service
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles
  • Work experience with construction and earthwork activities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude and strong problem-solving skills
  • M.S. in Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis
