Senior Geotechnical Engineer 1
Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of project work and proposals on large and/or complex multi-disciplinary projects to align with company-defined business objectives and client expectations in partnership with the project team.
- Demonstrate strong technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
- Cook regularly coach, mentor, and direct staff in the quality execution of projects and preparation of analyses, technical reports, and other deliverables, with a focus on developing skills to support their professional growth.
- Leverage your understanding of codes, regulations, and professional standards of practice associated with project work in your area of expertise to align project scopes with client objectives and regulatory requirements to deliver superior client value.
- Leverage your learning to increase the technical capabilities of others and the overall technical performance of the company.
- Excel in your field by engaging with external organizations, delivering internal and external presentations, and contributing to technical publications.
- Lead the performance of geotechnical evaluations, design efforts, design and contract package development, construction procurement support, and possess the ability to function as Engineer of Record on geotechnical design projects.
- Play a significant leadership role on geotechnical construction projects involving construction quality control and field/laboratory testing.
- Lead all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
- Exhibit the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
Skills/Experience
- Master’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related field.
- 6 – 10+ years of relevant site investigation, geotechnical analysis, and geotechnical engineering construction support experience, including professional services consulting experience.
- Minimum 1 – 2 years of Project Management (including financials) in an engineering consulting environment.
- California Professional Engineer registration or can obtain CA licensure within 6 months.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including verbally communicating and presenting project information to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
- Applies emotional intelligence to achieve higher impact on project team and client communications.
- Proficient in the application of relevant geotechnical analysis software.
- CA Geotechnical Engineer license preferred.
- West Coast Seismic experience preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates desirable.
