About the role
This position provides engineering and geological guidance and well bore steering for horizontal wells. Responsibilities include working closely with geologists, mud loggers, directional drillers, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers to ensure the correct well bore path is obtained.
Responsibilities
- Advise engineering and well site supervisors of geological/geophysical aspects of drilling the well
- Facilitate the transfer of geological data between rig site and the Project Team
- Pick coring points and monitor coring operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Geology, or Geophysics, or Technical Design preferred; with 4+ years engineering/geological experience in an oilfield-related position also preferred.
- Will consider strong experience and demonstrated skills in lieu of degree.
- Experience or knowledge in planning of wells, drilling rig operations, geo-steering techniques, and mud logging practices are considered a plus.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of both the geology of various formations and the operational functions of directional drilling and proposed completion practices.
- Ability to provide analysis for project decision-making based on sound technical review.
