SENIOR GEOPHYSICIST MANAGER
About the role
Olson Engineering, Inc. has an opening for a Senior Geophysicist Manager to manage and grow our Geophysics consulting services. The ideal candidate will have education and experience in conducting and managing geophysical surveys for near-surface engineering and environmental projects. Experience and/or interest in conducting nondestructive evaluation (NDE) investigations of bridges, buildings, dams, tunnels, pavements, foundations, and other civil structures is also desirable.
This position will be approximately 25% in the field with both local and out-of-town geophysics and NDE project work. The ability to occasionally travel nationally and internationally for up to 2 to 3 weeks at a time on projects is required. Must be willing to work occasional nights/weekends and have a clean driving record and ability to pass drug tests when required by clients for project sitework.

- Design surveys to achieve results desired by clients
- Attend conferences and build client networks
Requirements
- BS in Geophysics, Geology, or related Geoscience Degree (graduate degree preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in geophysics for engineering and environmental projects
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally for up to 2 to 3 weeks at a time
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in difficult conditions, including working at heights
- Must be able to repeatedly lift 70 lbs
- Professional Geologist or Professional Geophysicist (California) desired or ability to obtain licensure quickly
- Strong geophysical data collection, data analysis, and verbal and written communication skills
- Clean driving record

- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) & vertical electrical soundings (VES)
- Differential GPS and GNSS
Software & Technical Skills
- Seismic Refraction Tomography processing using Rayfract or other software packages
- Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves using SurfSeis/ParkSeis for processing
- GIS (either ArcGIS or QGIS)
- Generating figures using Surfer or other software to present to clients
- Basic understanding of various geophysical instruments, circuits, and electronics, and the ability to troubleshoot them
- Basic understanding of digital signal processing
- Geosoft Oasis Montaj for general geophysical data processing
- MS Word and Excel Spreadsheets
Pay
$100K to $140K per year depending on experience/qualifications
