HETI has a great opportunity for a Senior Geologist, Senior Environmental Scientist, or Senior Engineer with 10+ years’ experience in the environmental field. This role will provide technical and business skills, contributing to advanced solutions across the environmental, chemical, commercial, manufacturing, government, energy, financial, insurance, and/or legal sectors. The position is 100% remote.

Responsibilities

  • Client Management & Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and outcomes. Collaborate with project teams, including environmental engineers, geologists, and technicians. Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Interact and coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary approvals, permits, and closure documentation. Prepare and submit comprehensive reports, including site investigation reports, risk assessment reports, remedial action plans, progress reports, and closure reports. Stay current on environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Remediation Planning/Implementation: Develop and implement effective remediation plans based on site investigations and risk assessments. Design and oversee remediation strategies, such as excavation, soil vapor extraction, groundwater treatment, or in-situ bioremediation. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and permits.
  • Insurance Claim Support: Provide technical support to insurance claims professionals for environmental or energy-related claims. Demonstrate understanding of insurance terminology and policy language. Assess the source and timing of pollution events.
  • Site Assessments: Manage and conduct comprehensive site investigations to identify contamination sources, evaluate risks, and develop remediation strategies. Collect and analyze soil, groundwater, and other environmental samples in accordance with standard protocols. Perform data interpretation, risk assessment, and modeling to determine contamination impact on human health and the environment.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control and assurance measures to ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting. Conduct periodic audits and reviews of project activities to verify compliance with project plans and regulations. Address deviations or discrepancies promptly.

Requirements

  • Current PE or PG license.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience conducting site investigations, remediation, and third-party evaluations.
  • Solid understanding of environmental regulations, guidelines, and best practices related to contaminated site cleanup.
  • Excellent project management skills, including prioritization, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling techniques and laboratory analysis methods.
  • Diverse environmental consulting experience and excellent technical writing skills.
