About the role

We are seeking an experienced maintenance engineer to join the team at Columbia generating station. The primary focus is on balance of plant equipment, with a special emphasis on coal conveyor systems, boiler duct work, expansion joints, air heaters, air quality control systems, pumps, cooling towers, fans, and compressed air systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and troubleshoot faults, providing timely technical direction and repair scopes to the plant.
  • Execute projects from scoping through to completion, including managing onsite contractors.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and health assessments, both for troubleshooting and statutory obligations.
  • Understand mechanical and structural codes, equipment and system maintenance practices, and failure modes.
  • Apply cost/benefit analysis and testing methodology to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Engage in project management, including managing project budgets and communicating budget changes.
  • Support generation facility outages and assist with other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission.
  • 7+ years of related experience.
  • Experience on coal conveyor systems, boiler duct work/expansion joints, air heaters, air quality control systems (including SDAs and SCRs), pumps, cooling towers, fans, and compressed air systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical and structural codes, equipment and system maintenance practices, and failure modes.
  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments and make safety suggestions.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets and communicate budget changes.

Qualifications

  • Project management leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring, continual improvement, process cost optimization, design specifications, inspection management, power engineering, predictive maintenance, project and program management, records management, root cause analysis, and corporate financial statements.

Benefits

The final salary offered will generally fall within the range of $106,000 - $186,000, and participation in the annual incentive program is also possible.

Schedule

This is a full-time onsite role, so the ideal candidate should live in close proximity to the plant. Relocation allowances can be requested, and some flexibility may be possible outside of outages and project execution to promote work-life balance.
