Senior Fund Accountant (contract)
About the Role
BNY is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to support mutual fund onboarding and conversion activity within a fund accounting operating environment. This role is responsible for overseeing fund conversions from legacy accounting platforms, supporting new business implementations, and ensuring accurate daily accounting, reconciliation, and NAV-related outputs throughout the conversion lifecycle.
The role operates on a hybrid schedule in Lake Mary, FL (4 days onsite, 1 day remote). Standard hours are generally 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET.
Responsibilities
- Assist in end-to-end accounting processes related to mutual fund conversions, including daily accounting support, reporting, and transition-related financial activities (Record-to-Report/R2R).
- Prepare and review accounting entries associated with mutual fund activity, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data and related accounting workflows (General Ledger & Journal Entries).
- Perform and review reconciliations between legacy fund accounting systems and Eagle during parallel conversion periods, ensuring discrepancies are researched and resolved before go-live.
- Analyze and investigate reconciliation breaks, including items such as interest accruals, price differences, and other fund-level exceptions, to ensure accurate accounting results.
- Support key accounting cycle activities tied to daily and period-end fund accounting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting throughout the conversion process (Financial Close Support).
- Support accounting processes in accordance with SOX controls, regulatory requirements, and established risk and control standards (Regulatory & SOX Compliance).
- Support onboarding of new mutual fund business and conversion of existing funds from legacy platforms into Eagle, including fund setup, parallel run oversight, reconciliation validation, and transition-to-live coordination.
- Assist with audit requests, ad hoc reporting, and special projects related to fund accounting, onboarding, and conversion activities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across conversion and reconciliation workflows, including tracking issues, identifying process gaps, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting or mutual fund accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong understanding of mutual fund accounting concepts, including daily subscriptions and redemptions, holdings, pricing, valuations, and NAV production.
- Experience supporting accounting platform conversions, client onboarding, or parallel accounting runs.
- Strong reconciliation experience, including ability to identify, investigate, and resolve accounting breaks.
- Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, reconciliations, reporting).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a time-sensitive, client-focused financial services environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Eagle, particularly fund setup, conversion activity, and post-conversion support.
- Deep mutual fund accounting experience within asset servicing, asset management, custody, or banking environments.
- Understanding of terminology and operational processes across fund accounting platforms and service providers.
- Exposure to derivatives products and related accounting considerations.

Pay
Pay Rate Range: 48 - 60 USD hourly.
This posting is for a contract assignment with Tundra Technical Solutions to provide services to Bank of New New York (BNY). Candidates selected for this role will be engaged as contractors for the specified duration of the project.
