About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer (Payments) based in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable cloud-native fullstack applications supporting payments and purchasing flows with a strong focus on reliability and performance.
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript, alongside modern frontend interfaces using React-based frameworks.
- Contribute to the architecture of distributed systems, including event-driven workflows, messaging systems, and consistency handling across services.
- Implement strong engineering practices around testing, observability, monitoring, and safe deployment strategies across the stack.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver high-quality features while improving system stability and scalability.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and production issues, proactively driving improvements in system reliability and efficiency.
- Help define coding standards, engineering best practices, and scalable patterns used across multiple teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production-grade systems with user-facing APIs in high-scale environments.
- Strong fullstack expertise with TypeScript, including backend APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) and frontend development using React or similar frameworks.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts such as event-driven architecture, message queues, eventual consistency, and concurrency challenges.
- Solid database experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server, including schema design, indexing, migrations, and query optimization.
- Strong production mindset with experience in observability tools such as logging, metrics, tracing, and on-call support.
- Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward ownership, action, and end-to-end delivery.
