About the role
Join our groundbreaking Generative AI team at AIG, dedicated to exploring new possibilities for AI in insurance and beyond. As a Senior Data Engineer for GenAII, you will leverage your skills to guide AI initiatives and shape the future of data engineering at AIG.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and deliver innovative data solutions that meet evolving business needs.
- Mentor and grow junior engineering talent.
- Design, build, and maintain GenAI data pipelines across the business.
- Partner with data architects and senior engineers to implement best practices, ensuring sustainable and scalable technical designs.
- Work closely with analytics, application development, and data science teams to foster collaboration and drive innovation.
- Lead the onboarding of new business lines to GenAI workflows.
- Deliver on-time, high-quality results on fast-paced schedules while maintaining rigorous standards for development and code management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (Python, TypeScript, Java, JavaScript/React, etc.), with a strong background in TypeScript a plus.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Curious and motivated to learn new things.
- Experience with writing data processing pipelines in Palantir Foundry.
- Experience with testing frameworks (pytest, unittest).
- An understanding of containerization and compute optimization.
- Experience building and maintaining scalable and reliable APIs to expose data and functionalities to other services and applications.
- Identify and implement performance optimizations for existing code and data processing workflows, including leveraging containerization technologies for parallel execution.
- Contribute to the design and architecture of our data platform and applications.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience setting up end-to-end engineering pipelines, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

- Experience working with both internal and external teams to deliver best-in-class data engineering solutions, sharing knowledge and best practices across the organization.
- Experience working in the financial services or insurance industry, understanding the unique data challenges these sectors face.
