Senior Full Stack Software Engineer
About the role
Etude operates in insurance, commercial real estate, and industrials. Our insurance business covers more than 5,000 properties with billions of dollars in insured value. Our real estate business owns approximately $1B of commercial property alongside the Kinder Family Office. Our industrial business is developing a multibillion-dollar, 40-acre steelworks to secure the domestic supply chain for electrical infrastructure. We are roughly a 100-person team. We hire high-agency people and give them autonomy, responsibility, and diverse problems to work on. In this role, you’ll work across the entire stack building, testing, and shipping features. You'll collaborate closely with company leadership, playing a key role in solving high-impact technical challenges and shaping the future of our platform. Joining our Engineering team at this stage means your work will have a huge influence on future developers, the codebase, and company culture. This role is based out of our downtown Austin office—full time at first and then hybrid after onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Lead development across the stack — Architect, build, and ship high-quality code across our entire platform, setting the standard for technical excellence
- Design scalable, elegant solutions — Collaborate with Product to solve complex problems with simple, customer-centric features
- Own issue resolution — Triage, prioritize, and resolve system level issues while guiding others on best practices for quality and reliability
- Champion continuous improvement — Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance, code health, and team efficiency
- Advocate for the user — Build with empathy and a deep understanding of customer needs, ensuring every solution adds meaningful value
- Mentor and elevate others — Share expertise, coach teammates, and help shape a culture of learning, growth, and technical rigor
Requirements
- 5+ years in a full-stack software development role with a track record of owning and delivering complex features or systems
Qualifications
- Degree in CS/EE
- Deep proficiency with Frontend (TypeScript, JavaScript, React), Backend (Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs), and Infrastructure (Relational databases, Git, AWS) systems and languages
- Ability to learn and adapt to best-in-class tools including but not limited to Claude Code, Claude.ai, Linear, and other rapidly advancing AI tools
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead discussions, drive alignment, and mentor peers
- DevOps-related experience is a plus—skills that go beyond just writing code and own how that code runs in production
- Desire to work in-person or hybrid from our beautiful downtown Austin office
