About the role
Join our dynamic, agile R&D team as a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, where you will serve as a key architectural driver for our Evidence Management features, deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for the end-to-end success of major features—from proposing architectural approaches for video extraction to defining service contracts for AI-generated metadata. While primarily an Individual Contributor (IC), you will take on Technical Lead responsibilities for specific initiatives, actively mentoring peers and elevating our engineering standards. We expect a transformative approach, leveraging AI methodologies to optimize the development pipeline and ship high-performance media tools.
Responsibilities
- Architectural Ownership: Propose and facilitate technical discussions to arrive at agreed-upon architectural plans for video trimming, transcription, and packaging services.
- Contract Definition & Coordination: Own the APIs for the Evidence Domain, coordinating with external consumer teams to ensure seamless integration and data integrity.
- Feature Grooming & Delegation: Groom stories from Product Management requirements and break down tasks for the team to enable rapid, parallel development.
- Hands-on Media Manipulation: Lead the implementation of frame-accurate video trimming, cropping, and snapshot extraction logic using libraries such as FFmpeg or GStreamer.
- High-Performance UI/UX: Lead the development of the Video Trim Editor and extraction logic, ensuring frame-accurate performance and efficient GCS data handling in the browser.
- Quality & Review: Conduct thorough code reviews, serving as a trusted source to catch edge cases, security gaps, and performance bottlenecks.
- Pipeline Transformation: Actively contribute to development pipeline improvements (e.g., automated guardrails, RAG systems) to significantly cut down PR cycle time.
- AI Integration: Participate in shipping LLM-powered features (e.g., scene description and object detection), monitoring live metrics to refine accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years of progressive technical experience, demonstrating successful ownership of complex, distributed features.
- Practical experience with media processing tools (e.g., FFmpeg) to perform lossless trimming, transcoding, and frame-accurate media manipulation.
- Proven ability to deploy and manage applications on GCP (GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage).
- Extensive experience designing robust service contracts and managing dependencies between Python/Java microservices.
- Professional experience with Angular 17+ (specifically Signals) for developing highly performant, real-time user experiences.
- Deep understanding of scale challenges, fault-tolerant design, and the ability to anticipate and address stress points within media-heavy architectures.
- Practical experience leveraging modern AI tools for coding, architectural trade-offs, and code analysis.
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of full stack engineering and Python experience AND 2+ years of Java experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
