About the role
High-visibility engineering role at a major OEM, turning data governance, data management, and data quality frameworks into production-grade software across a connected vehicle data ecosystem—from front-end interfaces to backend services, data pipelines, and cloud architecture.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications supporting Data Governance, Data Management, and Data Quality use cases (data privacy portal, data catalogue interfaces, DSAR/SAR extraction tooling, data quality dashboards).
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs (Python, Scala/Spark, Flask) integrated with Databricks (Unity Catalog, Lakehouse/Postgres, Delta Lake) and AWS (Lambda, S3, SES, SQS).
- Develop front-end interfaces and internal tools (React, Streamlit) that make governance, cataloguing, and data quality processes accessible to business and technical users.
- Contribute to the technical architecture of these products, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability across environments.
- Translate functional requirements from governance, data management, and data quality teams into technical specifications and working software.
- Implement data pipelines for DSAR/Data Act extraction, PII masking, VIN-based filtering, and automated multilingual notification workflows.
- Ensure engineering best practices—code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and secure handling of sensitive and personal data.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for deployed applications, including performance, connectivity, and authentication issues.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full-stack development.
- Strong backend development skills (Python required; Scala/Spark a plus) and front-end frameworks (React or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with Databricks (Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, notebooks) or equivalent cloud data platforms.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS preferred: Lambda, S3, SES, SQS, IAM; Azure/GCP equivalent acceptable).
- Solid understanding of data architecture, REST APIs, and system integration patterns.
- Experience building internal tools and products (dashboards, portals, workflow apps) for business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously across multiple concurrent initiatives and shifting priorities.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders, in agile cross-functional environments.
Nice to have
- Automotive/connected vehicle/IoT data experience.
- Data governance tools (Collibra, Immuta, Unity Catalog permissions).
- GDPR, EU Data Act, EU AI Act knowledge.
- Terraform.
- GenAI/LLM application development.
