About the Opportunity
The Senior Frontend Engineer (Performance) will focus on frontend performance tuning and optimization within the Viewer team. This role is key to enhancing high-traffic experiences across various core platform areas by diagnosing rendering and execution issues, improving performance metrics, and setting organizational standards for frontend efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to excessive renders, long tasks, memory leaks, layout shifts, and heavy JavaScript execution.
- Define and improve measurable performance targets using monitoring tools and business metrics.
- Establish and maintain performance budgets, dashboards, and alerts.
- Elevate organizational performance expertise through technical talks, workshops, documentation, mentoring, and tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Deep expertise in modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, etc.), TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Expert proficiency with Chrome DevTools, React Profiler, Lighthouse, CPU profiles, and performance analysis tools.
- Senior-level technical leadership with ability to influence architecture and advise cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of browser internals including JavaScript execution, layout, painting, and compositing.
- Proven experience improving Core Web Vitals using real-user data.
- Hands-on experience diagnosing memory leaks and optimizing frontend performance aspects such as rendering and asset delivery.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $215,000 annually, excluding additional compensation or benefits.
