About the role
Northwest Partners is supporting a major initiative with a top-tier organization in the technology space. This role will design and build modern web experiences while developing Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) services that support user journeys, API composition, and domain workflow enablement.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern, responsive, accessible web applications supporting pricing, underwriting, data, workspace, and operational experiences.
- Build and maintain Backend-for-Frontend services that aggregate APIs, compose domain data, manage experience-specific orchestration, and simplify front-end integration.
- Create user-facing workflows incorporating AI agents, recommendations, conversational interactions, decision support, task automation, and human-in-the-loop review.
- Develop reusable component libraries, UI patterns, design system assets, forms, interaction models, and front-end standards.
- Partner with product owners, analysts, designers, engineers, and business subject matter experts to translate requirements and process flows into production-ready experiences.
- Integrate front-end applications with APIs, event streams, identity providers, BFF services, agent services, analytics, telemetry, and observability tooling.
- Own performance, accessibility, security, responsiveness, browser compatibility, test automation, and production support for front-end and BFF capabilities.
- Define and mentor front-end engineering practices covering state management, API integration, test strategy, release automation, and operational monitoring.
- Use AI coding agents and development copilots to accelerate implementation while maintaining strong design, review, and quality standards.
- Lead experience architecture across both the front-end and BFF layers, reducing dependency on generic backend services for experience-specific composition.
Requirements
- Experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, modern JavaScript and Node.js ecosystems, component-based architecture, and front-end build tooling.
- Experience with Backend-for-Frontend architecture, API composition, GraphQL or REST integration patterns, experience orchestration, and server-side rendering concepts.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization patterns, secure session handling, identity integration, and entitlement-aware user experiences.
- Experience with design systems, accessibility standards, responsive design, performance optimization, automated UI testing, and production observability.
- Experience supporting AWS-hosted web applications, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and production operations.
- Experience designing AI-enabled user experiences, agent interfaces, workflow automation, or conversational and productivity experiences is preferred.
- Ability to translate business requirements and process flows into intuitive, scalable user experiences.
- Ability to lead front-end experience architecture and establish engineering practices across teams.
