About the Role
The Senior Registration Associate is responsible for performing and coordinating clerical duties related to the efficient and service-oriented operation of a medical practice. This role ensures all job functions are performed in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the mission and core values of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates.
Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate front-end functions to ensure achievement of established revenue cycle metrics, including:
- Scheduling and registration
- Check-in and check-out
- Charge entry/claims
- End of day processes
- General duties, including but not limited to:
- Document processing
- Scanning
- Inbox monitoring
- Ensure distribution of work throughout the team to meet daily schedules.
- Display leadership qualities and manage daily staffing needs in coordination with office and float pool managers.
- Serve as a mentor and role model to colleagues.
- Schedule patient appointments to maximize patient access.
- Handle incoming calls and direct appropriately.
- Register patients, obtain necessary consent forms and demographic data.
- Collect co-pays at check-in or check-out, document monies collected, and generate patient receipts.
- Act as a liaison between patients and clinical staff; monitor for delays and inform patients.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, including ancillary and diagnostic tests.
- Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals for specialist office visits.
- Consistently and accurately pass charges in accordance with office policies.
- Perform parsing process daily to electronically file information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) accurately.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Work cooperatively with all team members to ensure quality patient care.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with providers, clinical staff, colleagues, managers, and others.
- Cross-cover other areas as needed.
Requirements
- Strong leadership skills.
- Associate’s degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Experience delivering successful customer service.
- Experience handling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to manage difficult customers respectfully and without confrontation.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Pay
Pay range: $18.50 - $23.90 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
