The position is for a Senior Flight Test Engineer located at Eglin AFB, FL, with an on-site work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and leadership in integrating flight test objectives, equipment, and test assets, skills/resources, and planning T&E budgets and schedules.
- Interact with certification engineers to ensure all program’s operational certification standards are achieved and addressed.
- Author test and safety plans for a variety of programs and customers.
- Assist in standardizing flight test planning products, and act as a mentor for new flight test engineers.
- Act as test director of test conductor for flight test events.
- Research, select, and source instrumentation components as part of a test system or unit under test.
- Develop and perform acceptance tests for a variety of products.
- Develop test cards for applicable events.
- Develop data management and analysis plans for testing and ensure the test data are collected, stored, processed, and analyzed to inform future testing and product development.
- Author test reports for daily events and final deliverables to internal and external customers.
- Follow specific tool control, FOD control, and safety guidelines and policies.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervision and management for the benefit of the company, program, or employee(s).
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant work related to flight test operations.
- Strong technical background, ability to read and interpret engineering design artifacts, and customer requirements.
- Self-driven and interfaces well with teams of varied disciplines.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an internationally recognized test pilot school (preferred).
- Experience in US Armed Forces (preferred).
- Experience in aviation as a private pilot or remote pilot (Part 107) (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physical Sciences.
- Clearance Level: Secret - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance, as required for the role.
Working Conditions and Travel
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, such as general office environment or warehouse, to field testing environments. Work performed may be in a harsh climate. While performing the duties of this position, one may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert or other environments. Travel: Up to 25%.
Physical Demands
Ability to work in a standard office environment, using computer and other office equipment. Capability to travel to field sites, including manufacturing facilities, test sites, or operational environments. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally for handling technical equipment or documentation.
Pay
Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 annually. Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus.
