Senior Fiscal Analyst
About the role
The City of Kodiak is recruiting for a full-time exempt Senior Fiscal Analyst in the Finance Department. Under general direction, this position is responsible for administration of the general accounting, treasury and customer services functions within the Finance Department for the City that could include, but is not limited to: payroll; analyzing, reconciling and maintaining accounts; general ledger accounting; financial reporting; grant accounting and reporting; project accounting; capital asset accounting; electronic banking; bank/investment reconciliations; cash management; accounts receivable and billings; budgeting and customer service.
The Finance Department has several areas of responsibilities and is committed to providing accurate and timely financial information and support to other City departments and citizens. The Finance Department is responsible for the financial and budgetary operations of the City and the operations of the City's information technology services.
The Senior Fiscal Analyst performs as an individual and team member in the delivery of providing advanced accounting support and maintaining the quality of financial accounting and reporting provided by the Finance Department. The Senior Fiscal Analyst is frequently required to make high level independent and sound judgements, and to work without direct supervision. The professional fiscal duties require additional advanced accounting and/or budgeting training. The Senior Fiscal Analyst must perform these duties in a manner that reflects positively on the City and the Department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) and Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- Seven to ten years of professional finance, accounting, and/or budgeting experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Government experience.
