Senior Firmware Engineer
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for microprocessor-based systems.
- Develop software in C++ for new product development efforts.
- Support and maintain existing firmware platforms written in C.
- Create firmware solutions utilizing Zephyr OS, RTOS environments, and bare-metal architectures.
- Develop low-level drivers, hardware interfaces, and board support packages.
- Interface closely with hardware, electrical, systems, and test engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Participate in firmware architecture, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex embedded hardware/software integration issues.
- Optimize firmware performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and hardware validation activities.
- Support product bring-up, debugging, and deployment activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 7+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++, with an emphasis on modern C++ development.
- Experience developing firmware in Zephyr OS or other real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Strong understanding of bare-metal microcontroller and microprocessor development.
- Experience developing low-level embedded software, device drivers, and hardware interfaces.
- Experience using debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
- Strong knowledge of embedded system architecture and real-time system design.
- Experience with source control tools such as Git.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with Linux-based embedded systems.
- Familiarity with embedded networking protocols and communication interfaces.
- Experience with ARM-based processors and microcontrollers.
- Knowledge of hardware schematics and board-level troubleshooting.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Demonstrated personal passion for embedded systems through hobby projects, home labs, robotics, maker activities, or open-source contributions.
Skills
- Experience with embedded systems, electronics, robotics, maker projects, or firmware development as a hobby.
Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $79.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
