Senior Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for microprocessor-based systems.
  • Develop software in C++ for new product development efforts.
  • Support and maintain existing firmware platforms written in C.
  • Create firmware solutions utilizing Zephyr OS, RTOS environments, and bare-metal architectures.
  • Develop low-level drivers, hardware interfaces, and board support packages.
  • Interface closely with hardware, electrical, systems, and test engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in firmware architecture, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex embedded hardware/software integration issues.
  • Optimize firmware performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and hardware validation activities.
  • Support product bring-up, debugging, and deployment activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++, with an emphasis on modern C++ development.
  • Experience developing firmware in Zephyr OS or other real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Strong understanding of bare-metal microcontroller and microprocessor development.
  • Experience developing low-level embedded software, device drivers, and hardware interfaces.
  • Experience using debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded system architecture and real-time system design.
  • Experience with source control tools such as Git.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded networking protocols and communication interfaces.
  • Experience with ARM-based processors and microcontrollers.
  • Knowledge of hardware schematics and board-level troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Demonstrated personal passion for embedded systems through hobby projects, home labs, robotics, maker activities, or open-source contributions.

Skills

  • Experience with embedded systems, electronics, robotics, maker projects, or firmware development as a hobby.

Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $79.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
