Senior Financial Controller

Based in Park City, UT, Triumph Geared Solutions is a leading independent aerospace gear and gearbox supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets. The Company’s key products and services include power transmission systems, integrated gearbox design and builds, airframe mounted accessor drives (AMAD’s), engine mounted accessory drives (EMAD’s), rotorcraft transmissions, turboshaft internal gearboxes, emergency power gearboxes, and large complex aero gears for both OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

About the role

Triumph is looking for a Sr. Financial Controller (Accounting) to provide financial support to the Gears Solutions Division in Park City, UT, and Macomb, MI. The role can be based out of either location. This position will be a key business partner, interacting closely with Operations leaders and executives, as well as the local accounting team to drive business decisions and provide analysis and recommendations on key strategic initiatives. The controller will lead the local accounting teams, overseeing high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and financial activities.

Responsibilities

• Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or company progress toward stated goals and objectives.
• Direct the work of the accounting department in performing A/P, A/R, inventory, month-end closing, general ledger maintenance, capital appropriations, and planning process.
• Recommend economic strategies, objectives, and policies for the company.
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and operations.
• Lead both the short and long-range financial planning processes, including capital planning.
• Collaborate with operations leaders to build an insightful and strategic long-term plan and Annual Operating Plan that achieves business goals.
• Actively support the monthly financial forecasting process to align with business strategy and ensure financial objectives are met.
• Provide insightful recaps and analysis, presenting findings to leadership to guide future strategic decisions.
• Serve as liaison to corporate finance/accounting, preparing or directing the preparation of reports summarizing and forecasting company business activity and financial position.
• Oversee and direct inventory costing, purchasing, real estate, property, and liability insurance activities.
• Provide management with timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
• Arrange for audits of company accounts.
• Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, including compliance with government cost accounting regulations.
• Prepare proposals and assist in contract negotiations for products produced for the US Government.
• Perform other various duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
• Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
• 8-10 years of experience in public/private accounting required; with at least 3 years within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience overseeing monthly/quarterly/annual close processes.
• Strong financial reporting and compliance background.
• Ability to oversee audits, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing accounting teams.
• Proficient in spreadsheet and financial applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High-level cost accounting knowledge.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
