Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing management of facility-level budgets for nursing homes/SNFs.
- Partner with Administrators, DONs, RDOs, and corporate leadership to align operational plans with financial targets.
- Build and maintain rolling forecasts based on census, case mix, acuity, payer mix, labor models, and regulatory impacts.
- Analyze budget vs. actual variances and provide clear, actionable explanations to operations leaders.
- Analyze key drivers impacting long-term care budgets, including:
- Labor (PPD, overtime, agency usage, contract labor)
- Census, admissions, discharges, and payer mix
- Case mix index and acuity trends
- Treatment utilization
- Supplies, pharmacy, and ancillary services
- Identify financial risks, cost drivers, and opportunities for improvement while maintaining regulatory compliance and quality of care.
- Support labor modeling and staffing optimization in collaboration with HR and clinical leadership.
- Prepare financial reports and dashboards for executives and regional/facility leadership.
- Translate complex financial data into practical insights that operations leaders can act on.
- Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and financial modeling for new facilities or service lines.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis to support operational decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Clinical, HR, Payroll, and Revenue Cycle teams to ensure financial planning reflects real operational conditions.
- Support leadership with scenario planning related to census changes, regulatory shifts, staffing challenges, and reimbursement changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- 3- 5+ years of financial analysis experience in long-term care, skilled nursing facilities, or post-acute healthcare.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing budgets for nursing homes/SNFs.
- Strong understanding of operational drivers in long-term care (labor, census, acuity, payer mix, regulatory impact).
- Advanced Excel skills (budget models, forecasting, variance analysis).
- Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-finance operational leaders.
