Essential Job Responsibilities
- Drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management for the Information Technology function.
- Provide deep financial insights, spend analytics, and variance reporting to support strategic technology investment decisions.
- Support the annual IT budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles, partnering with IT leadership and business unit finance teams.
- Develop and maintain IT financial models, including departmental expense tracking, capex vs. opex classification, headcount and contractor cost planning, and project-level budget management.
- Provide monthly and quarterly variance analysis for IT spend, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities with actionable recommendations.
- Maintain YTD IT spending visibility across business units, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to IT and Finance leadership.
- Drive IT spend analytics frameworks, including tracking AI-related expenditures, evaluating appropriate units of measure, and assessing new account structures in financial systems.
- Support IT vendor and contract management, including PO/invoice oversight, project code utilization, and supplier-level spend reconciliation.
- Support IT project portfolio management, tracking budget-to-actual by project, identifying variances, and escalating issues proactively.
- Collaborate with accounting to ensure accurate expense booking, proper accruals, and headcount/payroll alignment to actual department formation.
- Prepare and present executive-level financial reviews, communicating financial implications clearly to non-finance audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or equivalent from an accredited university.
- An MBA or professional certification (CPA, CFA) is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant FP&A, finance business partnering, or IT finance experience.
- Experience in IT finance, technology cost management, or finance business partnering within a technology or operationally complex organization is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; experience with IT cost structures (infrastructure, SaaS, headcount, projects) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query); experience with Power BI or other BI tools preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP and financial management systems (e.g., IFS, Hyperion, SAP, or similar); experience with semantic models or data layers is a plus.
- GAAP knowledge and understanding of capital vs. operating expense treatment for technology investments.
- Proven ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders, including IT and operations leadership.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across IT, Finance, and business unit teams.
- Detail-oriented with a track record of improving financial processes through technology and automation.
- Experience with PO and invoice processing workflows and project code management is preferred.
