Senior Financial Analyst (FP&A)

About the role

A growing startup company in Irvine, CA is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst / FP&A Consultant to support the Finance team. This is an approximately 20‑hour‑per‑week consulting engagement expected to last 4–6 months, with the expectation to convert to a full‑time / direct hire position.

Responsibilities

• Support the full FP&A function: budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis
• Build and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reporting packages for leadership
• Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to the Senior Director of Finance
• Support monthly close activities in partnership with the accounting team
• Prepare budget vs. actuals with clear narratives for senior leadership
• Contribute to ad hoc strategic analysis around product launches, channel expansion, and go‑to‑market planning

Requirements

Required:

• Senior Financial Analyst or strong Financial Analyst‑level FP&A experience
• Solid financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis skills
• Strong Excel required; Power BI or similar BI tool experience preferred
• ERP experience (SAP, Oracle Fusion, NetSuite, or similar) a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred

Preferred / Nice to have:

• Big 4 or public accounting background
• Healthcare, life sciences, medical device, biotech or pharma industry experience
